COLUMBIA, Mo. – Joseph E Mercier, 61, of Columbia, Mo., has passed away from natural causes on Oct. 2, 2023.
Joe was born on April 1, 1962. He was chosen, adopted, raised, and loved since birth by his parents Antonin and Gracia Mercier. He grew up and attended school in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1980.
Joe served six years in the Marines, stationed in California, and made Hemet, Calif., his home. He started and ran his own business, Hemet Rooter. Joe was an avid sports fan and played basketball and baseball in school. He was a fan of the New England sports teams and also became a fan of the San Diego, Calif. teams once he started living in Hemet, Calif. He had recently moved to Columbia, Mo., where he passed.
He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers Steven Mercier and wife Dianne of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mathew Mercier and his wife Christine of Livermore, Tony Mercier and his wife Shari of Lisbon Falls, Douglas Mercier and his wife Pam of Gorham, sister, Tanya Mercier of Greene, brother-in-law Bob DuBois of Crossville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad; and sister, Lorena DuBois.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to Joe’s good friends Kenny and Bambi Brousseau for helping him after his accident while in the Marines.
In respect to Joe’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
