LEWISTON — A local man was seriously injured Thursday night when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Lisbon Street, according to reports.

Phillip Cormier, 56, of Lewiston was crossing from near the Big Apple to the area of KFC at 10:51 p.m. when he was struck by a rented 2021 Nissan driven westbound by Cameron Marr, 36, of Auburn, according to reports.

Cormier sustained several broken bones and other injuries to his head, torso and legs, according to the crash report.

A video of the incident showed Cormier crossing the street when he noticed Marr’s vehicle coming at him. Cormier, who was not in a crosswalk, began moving more quickly, but failed to yield in time.

Lewiston police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said Tuesday that Cormier’s injuries were serious and that he was still in rough shape. The district attorney will review the case for possible charges for Cormier, he said.

The video also captured a man exiting the passenger side of the vehicle and fleeing the scene, but Marr gave only his and his 5-year-old daughter’s name, according to the report.

No one remaining in the vehicle at the time of the accident was hurt.

Police said Marr did not seem impaired, but refused a blood-alcohol level test at the police station.

Police later learned Deleon Henry, 31, of Sanford was the passenger in the car. Henry was arrested in an unrelated incident two days later in Auburn. He was charged with unlawful possession of a cocaine base, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of fentanyl powder and violating conditions of release.
