LEWISTON — A water main break closed a section of downtown Lisbon Street on Monday morning, causing a disruption to traffic flow.
Officials initially gave no estimate of when the road would be reopened, with work assumed to last into the night, but repairs were completed and traffic resumed shortly before 6 p.m.
The break impacted the 199 to 152 Lisbon St. area— from Pine Street to Ash Street— causing some businesses to close.
City spokesperson Angelynne Amores said Lewiston Public Library remained open despite initial concerns it would be forced to close, however, public works limited disruption enough to keep the library open.
