Robert N. Bell
AUBURN – Robert N. Bell, 83, of Auburn, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday Feb. 14, 2024 with his family by his side.
He was born in Van Buren on Jan. 27, 1941, a son of the late Benoit and Alia (Lebel) Bell. At a very young age, he and his family moved to Sabattus where he would grow up and attend local schools.
After high school, at the age of 17, Robert joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. He would have joined at 16 if he was allowed. On May 11, 1963, he married Joline (Landry) at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston and they started a life and family together. During that time, Robert worked as a pipe fitter for Bath Iron Works for many years until his retirement.
He will always be remembered for his love of traveling, hunting, four wheeling, woodworking and completing word search puzzles. He and Joline were members of the Auburn Senior Group and they considered them a strong second family. He will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joline Bell of Auburn; along with his children, Donna Lapointe and her husband Paul of Wales, Pamela Bergner and her husband Mike of South Portland and Randy Bell and his companion, Hope Blais of Winthrop. He also leaves behind his seven beloved grandchildren, Eric, Kelsey and Adam Lapointe, Derek Bergner, Danielle Berton, Kaleb Bell and Alia Bell; as well as his three brothers, Herbert Bell (Carol) of Hopkinton, N.H., Ken Bell of Mechanic Falls and Don Bell (Judy) of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by nine siblings, Annette Clairmont, Theresa Bryant, Lucille Lafrance, Hilda Tanguay, Thelma Lapointe, Fern Bell, Gilbert Bell, Benoit Bell, Jr. and Reno Bell.
