The Casco Bay Trail Alliance asks people to imagine a 72-mile off-road trail loop through Auburn, Brunswick, Cumberland, Durham, Falmouth, Freeport, Lewiston, Lisbon, New Gloucester, North Yarmouth, Portland, Pownal, Topsham and Yarmouth.

This would be a dream come true for Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding communities.

For safety reasons, I am always looking for areas with minimal road traffic to walk and cycle. The Casco Bay Trail would provide just such a place.

The proposed trail would also connect to multiple bus routes and other public transportation, supporting an integrated transportation network in Maine.

I hope those looking for an incredible community resource, which would be a safe place to enjoy the outdoors, to contact their state and local representatives.
