No way,” Craig said. Melinda Chadbourne and Miles Smith started the program in memory of their 14-year-old son, Merrick Chadbourne, who died in 2012. Chris Shea of the YMCA said over $2,000 raised in memory of Merrick was issued through scholarships to help get kids on the mountain.
