I was conflicted watching all of the public statements at the Feb. 20 Lewiston City Council meeting urging councilors to adopt a resolution regarding the conflict in Gaza.
While I shared their pain at the suffering, I couldn’t help but feel asking the city council to act on an issue over which it has no control, and which many are conflicted over, is not helping with our crisis of division and mistrust.
I do hope that the city council adopts a unanimous resolve to encourage the citizens of Lewiston to communicate with their representatives in Congress about their feelings. These are the people who serve in bodies that help determine our conduct in foreign affairs.
