Edouard Morin
LEWISTON – Edouard “Pop” Morin, 93, of 2 Teakwood Knolls, died Saturday May 18, 2024 at his residence. Edouard was born in Lewiston on Oct. 16, 1930, the son of the late Francois Morin and Noemie (Rancourt) Morin.
Edouard overcame adversity and the stigma surrounding intellectual disabilities to enter the workforce at a time when most people with challenges like his were kept home.
Edouard spent 25 years working at Happy Jack’s as a dishwasher. It was with great pride that Edouard would entertain family and friends with stories about his years working at the restaurant.
Edouard is best known for his love of hockey. He was a devout fan of the sport for a good number of years. He was often seen in the stands at the Coulisse cheering on his beloved Blue Devils or St. Dom’s. Edouard supported all the local teams at all skill levels, and until the last two years, rarely missed a game. He was once voted L/A’s biggest hockey fan and given a seat of honor complete with his own name plate at the “Arena.”
Edouard was predeceased by his sisters Madeline and Constance, and brothers Henry and Raymond. He was the last man standing in the family of 7. He leaves behind nieces and nephews who were fiercely protective of Edouard; all loved him dearly.
The family wishes to thank staff at Teakwood Knolls for the tender and attentive care he received. Edouard knew he was in good hands; safe and loved.
Condolences and fond memories may be shared on Edouard’s memorial page at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
