LEWISTON — A 47-year-old woman was transported to a hospital Tuesday afternoon with minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Lisbon Street near Burger King, police said.
Lewiston Police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said a vehicle was turning onto Lisbon Street from Essex Street around 2:15 p.m. when it hit the woman, whose name was not released. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.
He said the driver will not be charged because they were turning on a green light, and the crosswalk signal at the intersection was signaling pedestrians to wait.
“Pedestrians are reminded to cross streets at marked intersections with crosswalks and to use crosswalk signals,” St. Laurent said.
