
Ronald Frederick Preo
MILLINOCKET – Ronald Frederick Preo, 69, born in Hartford, Connecticut, Jan. 9, 1955, was called to his eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Memorial Day, May 27, 2024, in Millinocket. Ron was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1973. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an Air Traffic Controller, Petty Officer Third Class, from 1973 to 1977.
Ron dedicated his life to serving others, both in his military service and his civilian career. He was a Firefighter/Fire Inspector with the Lewiston Fire Department, as well as a skilled Millwright, Mason, Master Carpenter, and Cabinet Maker. Ron also ventured into entrepreneurship, owning multiple small businesses throughout his life.
A man of many talents and interests, Ron was a former Commander of the American Legion Post 80, he was a community service advocate and a member of the veteran honor guard. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, collecting precious metals, pool, weekly poker games with good friends, poetry and above all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly.
Ron is survived by his brothers, Dan and Rick; aunts, Joan, Doris and Peggy; children, Jon, Jen, Jim and their mother Connie; his wife Susan and her daughters, Audra, Alysha, and Amanda, as well as his 18 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father Ralph Preo Jr., mother Patricia Whirley Preo Anderson, stepfather Marcel Lavoie, and sister Roxanne.
Ron will be laid to rest on June 15, at 1 p.m., at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 200 Mount Auburn Ave., Auburn, ME 04210.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Ron will be held on June 22, from 2-6 p.m., at the Millinocket American Legion, 970 Central St. Millinocket, ME 04462.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of service, love for his family, and dedication to his community will forever be remembered.
