NORWAY — About 45 residents at Monday’s annual town meeting approved a $6.59 million municipal budget and ordinance amendments and additions.
During the hour-long meeting at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, discussion centered around proposed ordinance changes, which are mainly corrections, clarifications and updates to comply with state law, Town Clark Lisa Lombard said.
Amendments were approved for the building code, site plan review, shoreland and subdivision ordinances. A new sign ordinance was adopted.
Some of the zoning districts were also modified in the amendments, Lombard said.
The Select Board will now set the fees for the sign ordinance during one of its meetings, she noted.
The municipal budget for 2024-25 is an increase of $808,757.17, or 14%.
Lombard said the increase is mostly from higher costs “pretty much across the board,” for things like health insurance, wages and workers’ compensation insurance.
The Select Board plan to meet next at 7 p.m. June 20.
