Claire D. Bosse

AUBURN – Claire D. Bosse, 96, of Lewiston, died on Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn, where she resided the past two years.

Born in Holden, Mass. on Jan. 2, 1928, the daughter of Dr. Antoine Dumouchel and Gabrielle (Phoenix) Dumouchel, she was the oldest of four children. Afflicted by polio as a young child, she was the sickly one in the family, yet she outlived her three younger healthy siblings. She was raised in North Adams, Mass., graduated from St. Ann’s Academy in Paxton, Mass. and attended Ave Maria College in Marlborough, Mass.

She met her husband, Aurele “Kit” J. Bosse of Lewiston, while her family was vacationing on Sand Pond at Tacoma Lakes in Litchfield and he was a bicycle delivery boy. They were married in 1949. They raised their two sons, Pierre “Pete” and Michel “Mike” in Lewiston, spending summers at their cottage on Sand Pond. She stayed home to raise her children while Kit and his business partner, Fern Landry, developed the Twin City Dental Lab business in Lewiston.

Claire enjoyed spending time with relatives and friends. Her love of family was manifested by the many special relationships she developed with most of her nieces and nephews, who all thought the world of her. She was active in the Paraclete Prayer Group at Holy Family Church for many years. She spent many years with friends going to the YWCA pool in Lewiston early mornings.

Claire was known as a prolific greeting card sender. No matter how important or unimportant people’s special occasions appeared to be, she always sent congratulations cards to people, even people she barely knew. It was very difficult for her to have to slowly give that up as her memory and cognition slowly failed the past couple of years.

She is survived by her two sons, Pierre “Pete” Bosse (wife Kim) of Lewiston and Michel “Mike” of Clearwater, Fla. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by Kit in November of 2021; and her three younger siblings, who all died during the space of one year.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of the Sarah Frye Home and her personal care attendant, Nancy, who provided excellent care to her during her final two years.

Condolences and fond memories of Claire may be expressed on her memorial page at http://www.albert-burpee.com

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Lewiston at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 10, followed by committal prayers in the large mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery also in Lewiston.
