LIVERMORE FALLS — What could be more thrilling than creating a stunning piece of art? How about making art that glows? The second event of the Summer Reading Program took place June 27. Participants painted under black lights to produce amazing fluorescent masterpieces.

There was a group of children and parents, painting in the dimmed lights of the cool library on a warm summer’s day. It was the perfect atmosphere to meet up with others to celebrate art and friendships.

Alana Knapp, assistant librarian, had prepared a variety of supplies, including different-sized paint brushes, foam brushes in various shapes, white and black canvases, and small heart-shaped cutouts. The room was transformed with foil-covered windows and black lights to enhance the glow of their creations. Participants also had use of small black light flashlights and glow-in-the-dark bracelets. They enjoyed Rice Krispy treats while they created their art.
