06/22/2024 0210hrs, Deputy Frost responded to a report of a suicidal person on Main Street in Carthage. The person was transported to the hospital in Rumford.
0448hrs, Deputy Gray and Sgt. Bean responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the trucker parking lot of Poland Springs in Kingfield. The truck with the quarreling occupants were located were stopped on Route 27 in New Portland. This turned out to be verbal only.
0745hrs, Deputy Couture responded to the post office in Strong regarding a report of a person there acting strangely in the parking lot. The person was located and found to be okay.
0907hrs, Deputy Gray responded to a medical emergency at a residence on the Rangeley Road in Madrid.
1059hrs, Deputy Gray and Deputy Brann participated in a community policing event in East Wilton.
1204hrs, Deputy Couture responded to a two-car accident on the Wilton Road in Farmington at the request of Farmington Police. Cody Dux (29) of Rumford was driving a 2013 Ford F550 Farmington Fire vehicle from a parking lot onto Wilton Road when he struck a 2015 Chev sedan being driven by Kurt Welch (56) of Jay. No injuries were reported.
1216hrs, Deputy Couture responded to a medical emergency on Beech Hill Road in Madrid where a worker fell off from a ladder and was injured.
1656hrs, Sgt. Bean responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the Farmington Falls Road in New Sharon. This turned out to be issues with a person suffering from dementia who was transported to FMH.
2120hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a report of a dead deer which had been hit on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. The fawn of deer was standing by its dead mother. Wacome secured the fawn and transported to the Warden Service.
2113hrs, Sgt. Sholan received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind New England Wire Products in Kingfield.
06/23/2024 0807hrs, Deputy Brann received a business alarm at the Chesterville Corner Store. This was a false alarm.
0931hrs, Deputy Brann responded to a report of an unattended death on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. The death was not suspicious and due to ongoing medical issues.
1406hrs, Deputy Brann received a request for a welfare check at a residence on the French Road in Chesterville. The person to be checked was located and found to be okay.
1707hrs, Deputy Elmes received a 911 call at the Rangeley Lake School in Rangeley. This was an accidental dial.
2353hrs, Deputy Elmes responded to a car vs. deer accident on Arnold Trail in Chain of Ponds Twp. Joseph Corson (41) of Kingfield was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla when the collision occurred.
06/24/2024 0456hrs, Det. Richards received a residential alarm on Lookout Way in Eustis. This was a false alarm.
0659hrs, Deputy Morgan received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Mile Hill Road in New Sharon. He was unable to intercept.
1012hrs, Deputy Morgan investigated a walk in harassment complaint allegedly originating in Chesterville.
1318hrs, Deputy Morgan investigated a missing person complaint from Stewart Drive in Strong. The missing person was located an hour later.
1615hrs, Lt. St. Laurent investigated a fight inside the jail.
2024hrs, Deputy Elmes investigated what appeared to be a dog left unattended inside a vehicle on Main Street in Rangeley.
2215hrs, Deputy Elmes received a residential alarm on Lookout Way in Eustis. This was the second false alarm of the day involving the same building.
06/25/2024 0513hrs, Deputy Morgan, Deputy Couture and Chief Deputy Lowell received a complaint of a stolen motor vehicle from Oxford County that was now in Rangeley Plt. The stolen Ford F250 Super Duty had been at a garage in Mexico for repair work as a result of a moose accident. The stolen vehicle was not discovered until early the next morning when a man driving a tractor trailer saw the truck parked at the Height of Land overlook area of Rangeley Plt. He stopped in to see if he could render assistance. Coincidentally when he stopped, he recognized that the truck belonged to his boss. It became clear that that young males who had the truck were not associated with it. When he confronted the young males, they got back into the pickup and sped away towards Rangeley at a high rate of speed.
The tractor trailer driver notified his boss (Chartier Trucking) who notified the Mexico Police Dept. who notified the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The stolen truck was rediscovered by the trucker, overheated and stopped on the side of the road near South Shore Drive on Route 17, but the occupants had fled into the woods.
A search was initiated by Chief Deputy Lowell involving deputies and K-9 Rahka from the Sheriff’s Office as well as Border Patrol Agents which lasted all day and into the evening. During the day, Lt. St. Laurent received information from an informant indicating that the males were now lost in the woods and did not know where they were somewhere off South Shore Drive in Rangeley Plt. The search was called off until Tuesday evening.
06/26/2024 Early Wednesday morning Chief Lowell and Det Richards along with Det. St. Laurent, Det. Davol and Deputy Maccione started coordinating a second search to find the three individuals still lost in the woods. They received information from a citizen who caught two of the males on a security camera at 10 am on Edelheid Road in Sandy River Plt. Having that location, they established a perimeter in the area of the residence, Det. Richards and Deputy Maccione conducted a search on foot, discovered and apprehended one of the offenders who was a 16-year-old male from the town of Mexico.
Lt. St. Laurent received a tip at approximately 1045 that the two other males involved in the auto theft were in the Farmington area. The two other males had left the 16-year-old behind and started hitchhiking southbound on Route 4. They were picked up by a couple headed southbound who had no idea what the males were involved with and dropped the two males off at Walgreens in Farmington. At that point Lt. St. Laurent was alerted to their location, Farmington Police and Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded immediately and took the remaining two offenders into custody. One male, Logan Smith a 24-year-old from Rumford was charged and released to a caregiver by Mexico Police, the 16-year-old juvenile was charged and released to family, the14-year-old who had previous juvenile conditions was charged and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
1019hrs, Deputy Morgan received a complaint of a tractor trailer being driven in an erratic manner on Route 27 New Vineyard. He was unable to intercept.
1212hrs, Chief Lowell received a residential alarm on Hinds Road in Wyman Twp. Carrabassett Valley Police checked the residence, all was secure.
1255hrs, Deputy Morgan received a 911 call at Oquossoc Marine in Rangeley. This was an accidental dial.
1304hrs, Deputy Couture received a bad check complaint at the Oquossoc Grocery in Rangeley.
1415hrs, Deputy Morgan responded to a parking accident on South Shore Drive in Sandy River Plt. Eliza Quinn (21) of Dudley Mass was backing a 2012 Honda Pilot and struck a parked 2023 GMC Yukon owned by Katie Emerson (41) of Rangeley.
1512hrs, Deputy Elmes received a 911 call at a residence on Grand View Estates in Eustis. This was an accidental dial.
1734hrs, Deputy Wacome received a complaint of an apparent lost dog who was in bad shape physically on West Side Road in Carthage. The caller made arrangements to have the dog transported to Lewiston.
1750hrs, Deputy Wacome received a 911 call on Lake Street in New Vineyard. This was an accidental dial.
1832hrs, Deputy Frost investigated a threatening complaint from male who has mental health issues and is from Texas. The male had left a note at business in Stratton making threats to kill police among other threats. Investigation revealed that the male was last seen in the Lewiston area.
2145hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a report of a two-car accident on Kimball Pond Road in New Sharon where it was reported that the driver of a 2013 Chevy Cruze struck a legally parked 2005 GMC Yukon and then crashed into a ditch. As a result of the investigation James Nile (32) of New Sharon was arrested for OUI and transported to FMH initially to be cleared and then to jail.
06/27/2024 0444hrs, Det. Richards received information about suspicious people near the Looney Bin in Rangeley. The males were Hispanic and did not speak English. He is working with Border Patrol on the situation.
0906hrs, Det. Richards investigated a harassment complaint on Main Street in Rangeley.
1303hrs, Deputy Brann received a 911 call at Mt. Blue State Park in Weld This was an accidental dial.
1433hrs, Deputy Maccione responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Russell Street in Phillips. This involved a juvenile; no charges were filed.
1527hrs, Deputy Wacome was on Main Street in Farmington when he was flagged down by motorist who reported what they believed to be an intoxicated driver. Wacome stopped the vehicle in question, as a result of the stop Jayme Beliveau (42) of Lexington was arrested for OUI and Refusing to sign a Summons.
1635hrs, Sgt. Sholan, received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Foster Hill Road in Freeman Twp. He was unable to locate the vehicle.
2002hrs, Det. Davol received a late report of an alleged assault that occurred at the Town House Apartments on School Street in Rangeley.
2146hrs, Deputy Frost and Sgt Sholan conducted search at a residence on Cape Cod Hill Road in New Sharon. As a result, Patrick Dube (40) of New Sharon was arrested on a Warrant and transported to jail.
2148hrs, Sgt. Sholan responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Industry Road in New Sharon. Emma Turcotte (17) of Industry was driving a 2018 Nissan when the collision occurred.
06/27/2024 0659hrs, Deputy Brann investigated a report of someone running over the stop sign at the intersection of Mile Hill Road and the Mercer Road in New Sharon.
0923hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of a lost key fob to the complainant’s vehicle.
1056hrs, Deputy Brann received a 911 call at a residence on Taylor Hill Road in Strong. At first the caller stated that it was accidental but after Brann showed up this turned out to be a disturbance call with no crime committed or charges filed. The complainant was given the procedure for filing a protection order.
1247hrs, Deputy Brann received a complaint of dogs running loose on Day Mountain Road in Temple.
1314hrs, Deputy Brann received a request for a welfare check at a residence on Birches Beach Road in Rangeley Plt. The person to be checked was not at the camp.
1532hrs, Deputy Wacome received a complaint/request for a welfare check on a person who supposedly lived on River Road in Avon. Investigation did not reveal anyone by the name given living in this area.
2158hrs, Deputy Wacome investigated a vandalism complaint at a residence on Lambert Hill Road in Strong.
06/28/2024 1230hrs, Det. Davol and Det. Richards recovered stolen bicycles in the town of Rumford that were stolen from Weld.
1458hrs, Det. Davol received a sex crimes complaint at a residence on the Phillips Road in Strong.
1702hrs, Det. Richards conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Rangeley. As a result of the stop Angela White (33) of Rangeley was charged with Failure to Register Vehicle by Current Owner.
1832hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a disturbance call on Whippoorwill Lane in Phillips. The complaint reported that he was being confronted by migrant workers. No charges were filed.
1917hrs, Sgt. Sholan responded to a car vs. deer accident on the Carthage Road in Carthage. Daniel Lowell (65) of Roxbury was driving a 2014 Kia when the collision occurred.
1957hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a noise complaint at a residence on Sawyer Street in Phillips. The person there was advised to turn their music down.
2126hrs, Sgt. Sholan responded to a noise complaint originating from Main Street in Kingfield. He was unable to locate the source of the noise.
2149hrs, Sgt. Bean assisted Wilton Police with a request for a K-9 at a traffic stop where Crack Cocaine was located by K-9 Bain.
2154hrs, Deputy Wacome responded to a report of a car vs. deer accident which reportedly occurred somewhere on Route 4 in Phillips. Dorothy Shaw (64) of Brunswick was driving a 2021 Subaru when the collision occurred.
Deputies also conducted 5 elder checks, 1 building checks and responded to 5 false 911 calls.
