Alexander Horth, 13 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Horth of 305 Bates street, Lewiston, has the makings of a great violinist, according to his teacher, Miss Marguerite Burke Girouard of Lewiston.

He has been taking violin lessons for four years, and is unusually earnest in his efforts to perfect his talent. He has a fine singing voice, also. He has been taking lessons from Miss Girouard for two and a half years, and she finds him an apt pupil, quick and eager to learn.

Although a student at Dingley school , Alexander plays in the Frye grammar school orchestra. He was on the Lewiston Symphony Orchestra when it was organized last winter. He is one of 15 children.

The Sun Journal was unavailable for July 17, 1999, instead an article from July 17, 1998 is being offered.

The Festival de Joie in Lewiston is capitalizing on the current Beanie Baby craze by offering local folks a chance to claim ownership of Maple Bear, a highly-coveted Canadian import which is hard to find in the United States.

The bear is so elusive, in fact, that local dealers estimate its current value at $280, with that amount likely to go up as the festival draws near and interest mounts.

The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
