UNITY — Five Pillars Butchery will hold a foundation stone ceremony to mark the groundbreaking of its halal processing facility, which will be one of New England’s only USDA-certified, exclusively halal slaughter and processing plants.
The USDA, the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, CEI, and Full Plates Full Potential are among a host of partners supporting this venture, according to a news release.
At full operation, this facility could provide 14 full-time jobs and purchase $2.7 million in livestock from local farmers, the release stated.
