The Reading Fightin Phils hit three home runs in the first inning – including a three-run blast by Otto Kemp – and held on for a 6-5 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Saturday night at Hadlock Field.
Phillip Sikes, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel all belted solo home runs for the Sea Dogs, but Carson Taylor’s homer for Reading in the fifth inning accounted for the eventual winning run. That was one of only two hits allowed by Portland relievers Jonathan Brand, Wyatt Olds and Christopher Troye over the final 8 1/3 innings.
Teel was 4 for 5 with an RBI double, Blaze Jordan also doubled home a run, and Kristian Campbell extended his hitting streak to 11 games, going 1 for 4.
