The Farmington Historical Society is set to hold its annual Sun-Porch Soirée at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Hiram Ramsdell or “Octagon” House at 126 High St.
The evening will feature homemade hors d’oeuvres, desserts and summer punch.
Music will be played on the grand piano, while visitors view unusual silent auction items. The event will include door prizes.
The Octagon House was built in 1858 as an example of the innovative architecture of the time. It was the home of the Mallett family, who loved to entertain, according to a news release from Marion Scharoun with the society. The society carries on the tradition of opening the doors to the community several times a year for special events, and weekly for tours.
All proceeds from the evening will go toward the continued maintenance and restoration of the building.
Tickets cost $25 and will be sold at the door. Reserve tickets by calling Scharoun at 207-778-2932.
