AUBURN — City officials said Tuesday that the transport of a large transformer from Auburn to Lewiston scheduled for Wednesday morning has been delayed.
The transport was expected to cause heavy traffic delays along its route from Rodman Road in Auburn to the 1653 Main Street substation in Lewiston.
It is also one of four such transports planned over the next several weeks, according to Auburn Director of Communications Liz Allen.
“As soon as we have the new date, we will share the information widely,” Allen said.
When the transport does take place, motorists can expect several road closures along Rodman Road, Washington Street north and south, Philomar Street, Minot Avenue, Union Street, Center Street and on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge. On the Lewiston side, closures can be expected on Russell, College, Merrill and Main streets.
