Gloria W. Hall
AUBURN – Gloria W. Hall, 94, of Auburn, died Tuesday July 16, 2024, at Cover Healthcare with loving family at her side. She was born January 5, 1930, in Livermore Falls, daughter of Harold and Georgia Winton. She attended secondary schools in Livermore Falls and graduated from Livermore Falls High School class of 1948. She then attended Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. She married Quentin N. Hall April 4, 1953, whom she met while she was a nurse at Central Maine General Hospital, now known as Central Maine Medical Center, in Lewiston, Maine. Their twin daughters Karen and Sharon were born four years later.
Gloria started her nursing career as an operating room nurse. After the girls were born she did some private duty nursing and once the girls were older she became a staff RN at Central Maine General Hospital/Central Maine Medical Center. Her last staff position was as an RN in the Emergency Department at Central Maine Medical Center.
After retiring from nursing, she was an avid golfer, first as a member at Summit Springs Golf Course and then later as a member at Turner Highlands when it opened.
Gloria and Quent enjoyed many years watching their grandsons play sports, which even meant going with the hockey teams as far as Chicago, Illinois and Coral Springs, Florida. While in Chicago, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with the hockey team. She and Quent enjoyed camping when the family was growing up and had a special group of friends that were together at campgrounds weekends during the summer.
Gloria had a special group of friends who went for day trips throughout the years. It was mentioned that food was always involved so they named themselves The Piggly Wiggly Club.
She and Quent travelled to Hawaii, Alaska, the Grand Canyon, Bronson, Missouri and the west coast from California to Washington.
She was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Partridge and husband Alden (Pat), daughter Sharon Labonte and husband Paul, grandsons Christopher Shaw and wife Whitney, Bryan Shaw and wife Rita, Travis Labonte and wife Sarah, and Cameron Labonte. She is also survived by great granddaughters Abigail Shaw, Victoria (Tori) Labonte, and Finn Shaw and great grandsons Tanner Labonte and Carson Labonte.
She was predeceased by her husband, Quentin N. Hall, her parents Harold and Georgia Winton, her brother Glendon Winton and granddaughters Allison Shaw and Ashley Labonte.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Clover Healthcare Assisted Living and Belfast rehab staff for their great care over the past year. They would also like to thank Andwell Health Partners (formerly Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice) and their exceptional staff who helped care for Gloria over the last few weeks.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St, Auburn, A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m., with food and fellowship immediately following service. Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park will occur afterwards.
