PARIS — At its monthly meeting on August 15, the Paris Cape Historical Society will remember curator Ben Conant, who passed away in June. PCHS invites anyone who knew Ben, or talked to him for historical or genealogical information, to attend and share memories.

People are also encouraged to put their memories to paper to share, so that PCHS may put together a written journal of them. Historical anecdotes that Ben may have shared are particularly welcome, as he was an encyclopedia of information that went beyond the written publications on Paris history. But in any case, come and share in whatever way you wish to honor Ben.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Porter House Museum at 77 High Street. Refreshments will follow. For those unable to attend but wishing to send written memories, please use email at [email protected].

With Ben’s passing, PCHS will be charting its course for the future, and is in great need of people to serve on the Board of Trustees. The board meets monthly on the second Monday evening for about an hour. If anyone is interested in serving, or otherwise volunteering to help with compiling documents and photos, please email [email protected] or message through the PCHS Facebook page.
