Symmetry of Husbands, Patricia O’Donnell

Author Patricia O’Donnell will be at the Rangeley Public Library on Wednesday, August 14th, at 6:00 PM to talk about her book, A Symmetry of Husbands.

Set in the early days of the Trump presidency, A Symmetry of Husbands, probes the inner workings of marriage and long friendship. As she grieves the death of her friend, Megan, Abigail struggles with complicated feelings of lingering desire for Megan’s husband, and guilt over their affair. Abigail also entertains a growing suspicion of the circumstances of Megan’s death, and her own possible complicity.

Patricia O’Donnell is Professor Emerita of Creative Writing at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she taught fiction and directed the BFA Program in Creative Writing. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Agni Review, The North American Review, Prairie Schooner, and other places. Her collection Gods for Sale won the Serena McDonald Kennedy Award for short fiction, and her 2019 novel The Vigilance of Stars was chosen by Lily King for the Maine Humanities Council “Read ME” program. A Symmetry of Husbands is her fifth book. Patricia lives in Wilton, Maine, with her husband Micheal Burke.
