100 Years Ago: 1924
Through the courtesy of Mrs. V. S. Darling of Auburn who opened her farm on the shores of Lake Auburn to the employees, friends and families of the Darling Automobile Co. and the Reo Service Co., about 100 enjoyed a delightful outing at this beauty spot on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
50 Years Ago: 1974
A vegetable thief had a field day at an Auburn residence last night.
Anthony Corerro, 391 Poland Road, reported to police at 7:44 this morning that someone cleaned out his garden sometime during the night, taking ALL the vegetables.
25 Years Ago: 1999
A daring aerial rescue crew rappelled down a smokestack to assist a worker injured about 250 above the ground Thursday morning in Jay. It took rescuers three hours to lower the hurt painter from a catwalk to a waiting air ambulance.
The air ambulance brought the man to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he was treated and released.
