DEAR SUN SPOTS: I lost my Mason’s ring last Friday evening (Aug. 2) in the parking lot of KFC on Lisbon St. The ring is gold with a red stone and the initials G.A.B. engraved on the inside. Please contact me at 946-5124 if you have found it. — No name, Greene

ANSWER: This sounds like a precious possession for sure. If you haven’t already, check in with the police station and with KFC and other businesses in the area. Let us know what happens.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please publish the names of people who are willing to come to my home to help me with my desktop computer? I’m having issues with changing my passwords and haven’t been able to figure it out. — No name, no town

ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have ACS — Action Computer Services in Lewiston (https://www.acs4u.com/, 786-8740), Buck Buchanan at PCS — Professional Computer Services (http://pro-pc.us/,[email protected], 784-6295), and Angela’s Computer and Media Shop (520-9573).

Your local library tech person may be able to recommend someone who will come to your house. I would also contact SeniorsPlus at 795-4010 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 12 p.m. on Friday.

I wish you luck — computer issues are so frustrating. Readers, if you have other computer tech people you want to recommend, now is the time to do it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Who in the central Maine area manufactures the bronze bas-relief memorial plaques that we see everywhere? They are in and outside of buildings, on bridges and highways, and other places where a lasting memorial is desired. — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: I found a couple businesses. Marquis Signs (https://marquissigns.com/, 782-4666) in Lewiston, and in Biddeford, Provost’s Memorials (https://www.provostsmemorials.com/, 284-7042). Go to these websites for more information, fill out and send an email form, or call. Both businesses provide dedication plaques made from various materials to honor someone, or to name or dedicate a building.

Readers, if you know of anyone else, let us know.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in central Maine who can restring my antique violin? — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: Although not in the central part of the state, I can recommend Justin Boone at Frost Gully Violins in Brunswick (https://frostgullyviolins.com/, 373, 1842). It also might be worth a call to Robert Miller at Fiddle-icious (https://fiddleicious.com/, 799-8909). He’s in South Portland. If these gentlemen can’t take care of your violin, I bet they know someone who can.

And of course, we’re always looking for more information for the Rolodex!
