WEST PARIS — The driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian Tuesday evening at 32 Main St. has been identified as Andrew Balser, 25, of West Paris.
Balser was backing out of his driveway in a 2007 Saturn when he struck and seriously injured a 42-year-old West Paris woman walking past the driveway, Oxford County Sheriff Maj. Dana Thompson said in a news release.
Driver inattention and/or distraction may be contributing factors in the crash, Thompson said.
The incident occurred about 4:50 p.m.
The woman, who the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department is not identifying, was transported by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
No charges are pending at this time, but the incident remains under investigation, Thompson said.
Assisting the Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies were crews from the West Paris Fire Department, Woodstock Fire Department and PACE Ambulance Service.
