Constance “Connie” M. Rioux

LEWISTON – Constance “Connie” M. Rioux, 83, of Auburn passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Rioux who died in 1998.

She was born in Lewiston on July 21, 1941, a daughter of the late Gerard A. and Lillian M. (Ouellette) Gagne. Connie grew up in Lewiston attending local area schools and graduated from St Dominic’s High School a member of the class of 1959.

After high school, she met her soon to be husband, Robert, and they were married in 1961. Starting off in the manufacturing realm of footwear, Connie decided to go back to school for some clerical courses and moved into the office as a bookkeeper. She also spent the bulk of her career as the office manager for Billen Shoe in Lewiston until they closed. After Billen Shoe closed she had a personal bookkeeping business for a few years and finished her career for Eastland Shoe in Human Resources.

She was an avid member of The Auburn Community Senior Group, The New Auburn Senior Group and The Robin Dow Senior Group, where she enjoyed many activities with her many friends. Connie loved to dance and had a beautiful singing voice. She also enjoyed Bingo, playing cards and especially Cribbage with her very favorite friends. Her favorite times were with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying a wonderful meal, celebrating birthdays and milestones and holiday celebrations.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Rioux and her husband Brian Fanjoy of Poland; her three grandchildren, Zackary Lapointe and his wife Randi of Lewiston, Trevor Lapointe of Livermore Falls, and Holly Rose Fanjoy of Wales; and four great-grandchildren, Skyla, Milana, Bradly and Giada “Gigi”. She also leaves behind two siblings, Maurice Gagne and his wife Rachel and Jeannine Dupuis and her husband Gregory, both of Lewiston, sister-in-law, Marguerite Gagne Bergeron; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Connie was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Gagne in 2019.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
