Leavitt football ‘s 2023 season was nothing short of historic.

But it’s history.

Monday was the first day Maine high school fall sports teams were allowed to practice, and this year’s Leavitt squad opened the preseason thinking not about what was accomplished last year or worried about replacing all of the key players who graduated. Instead, the Hornets are ready to step up and start working toward reaching another Class C state title game.

“I’m confident about this year,” junior slot Mason Henderson said. “I mean, we don’t really want to look too much about last year because, you know, you can think about that … until the season starts and then you’ve got to focus on this coming season and really lock in.”
