WEST PARIS — Tap water from the West Paris Water District’s system is safe to drink for the first time since a boil water notice was issued April 18, according to Superintendent Bill Gardner.
Repairs to a reservoir tank have been completed, and tests show that chlorination has killed any bacteria, Gardner said Tuesday. He submitted test samples to the Maine Drinking Water Program, which has approved lifting the boil water order.
At the same time, elevated copper levels have been detected but do not pose an “immediate risk.” There is no need to use bottled water, according to an Aug. 14 public notice.
