LEWISTON — A bicyclist was injured Friday morning when he crossed Ash Street in front of Jeep, Lewiston police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said.

Robert Howland, 43, who is homeless, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injuries, the lieutenant said.

Michael Phillips, 37, of Skowhegan was driving the Jeep Cherokee.

Howland, who was riding across the parking lot and continued across Ash Street, is believed to be at fault, St. Laurent said.

He advised that bicyclists must follow the same rules as drivers.
