LEWISTON — Three schools were without power Wednesday morning as students arrived for the first day of classes.
Robert V. Connors Elementary School, Lewiston High School and Lewiston Regional Technical Center relied on backup generators for about an hour until the power was restored.
“It turns out there was a branch that had come down across wires near The Green Ladle (culinary arts achool). We were able to remove that branch and reset it, so power is all back up and running and everything is just fine,” Superintendent Jake Langlais said Wednesday.
“In the meantime, we were running on generator power and that limits things. There was not as much lighting and HVAC and things like that, but there was one bathroom and the kitchens were able to keep prepping food,” he said.
“They didn’t say anything to us about a need for any major repair. Once they removed that branch because it crossed wires and created a short, it was all set,” Langlais said.
