LAKE REGION — The following events will be happening in the next few weeks.
Forest Therapy Walk
Wednesday, September 4, 10 a.m. | Peabody-Fitch Woods, Bridgton
Join certified forest therapy guide Jeanne Christie for a guided walk to enjoy the wellness benefits of Shinrin Yoku, or Forest Bathing. A Forest Therapy Walk is a slow ramble through the forest fully present and experiencing the world with all the senses. For many it is profoundly relaxing, and an opportunity to connect with nature. The walk starts with a gentle outward-facing meditation followed by a series of simple invitations to explore the forest through different senses. The event is free, but space is limited and registration is required at lelt.org/events.
Sunset Concert with Just Be-Cause
Wednesday, September 4, 5:30 p.m. | Hacker’s Hill, Casco
Just Be-Cause – composed of Christine Coté Baillargeon, Moe Baillargeon, and Jeanine Loubier with special guest Rusty Wiltjer – hails from the Lake Region and will perform a wonderful array of originals and covers accompanied by guitar, mandolin, and percussion.
Attendees should bring chairs, blankets, warm layers, and a picnic. There is a suggested donation of $5 – $10 per adult (or an amount that is meaningful to you), which can be made via cash, check or Venmo at the event. All proceeds support LELT’s conservation work in the Lake Region and the stewardship of Hacker’s Hill.
Bald Pate 10k
Saturday, September 7, 9 a.m. | Five Fields Farm, Bridgton
The second of three trail running races in the Loon Echo Race Series, the Bald Pate 10k will start and end at Five Fields Farm. The race will take place on a rugged course that features everything a trail enthusiast could ask for, all packed into 10 kilometers and 1800′ of elevation gain! Technical single-track, steep climbs, bombing downhills, mud, and scenic vistas. Sign up at lelt.org/race-series.
Not interested in running? We need volunteers to direct runners at key points along the course. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. Email [email protected] if you’re interested in volunteering.
