CASCO — Woodland owners with 10+ acres of woodlands are invited to gather at Sebago Lake State Park with a team of woodlands experts for a day of learning, lunch, and connections on Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain date Sunday, September 29). Much of Maine’s forests are privately owned, and this event will provide landowners with resources to help their woodlands thrive now and for years to come. Resource professionals will be available from Lakes Environmental Association, Portland Water District, Maine Forest Service, Loon Echo Land Trust, Western Foothills Land Trust, Maine Tree Farm, Maine Audubon, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine Woodland Owners and consulting foresters from Northwest Forest Management and 207 Forestry.
This day of celebration and education includes guided forest walks with local foresters, biologists, and conservationists as well as time to mingle and connect with other landowners. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and speak with resource professionals about questions and goals for their land. Free refreshments will be provided, including Bissell Bubbles from Bissell Brothers Brewing, a sparkling non-alcoholic hop water made with naturally filtered Sebago Lake water, and sandwiches from Kindred Farms Market. A “Woodland Owner of the Year” Award will be announced, and all guests will be entered in drawings for free raffle prizes. Space is limited, and registration closes on September 20.
