NAPLES — Residents are encouraged to participate in two public workshops set for Thursdays, Sept. 26 and Oct. 10, to learn about the town’s enrollment in Maine’s Community Resilience Partnership, a program that helps communities reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while adapting to extreme weather, flooding and other climate impacts through direct support and grants of up to $50,000.
Naples is one of 23 towns and cities in Cumberland County — including Bridgton, Casco and Harrison — that have enrolled or are enrolling in the partnership. The partnership has awarded nearly $8.5 million for projects in more than 150 communities across the state.
By attending the workshops, community members will help Naples prioritize resilience projects that range from energy efficiency upgrades and weatherization to watershed protection and extreme weather planning.
The workshops will begin at 6 p.m. at the Naples town office, 15 Village Green Lane. All are welcome, and youth participation is encouraged. Compensation and a Zoom option are available upon request.
Those who need remote access, a stipend, or other accommodations to participate may contact Naples’s service provider, Center for an Ecology-Based Economy.
