I will be voting to reelect U.S. Rep. Jared Golden. I don’t always agree with him, but the issues on which we do agree — protection of Social Security and Medicare, and a woman’s right to control her own body, to name just two — far outweigh the issues on which we disagree.

I know that some people are considering writing in someone else’s name or not voting for anyone at all as a way of protesting some of Rep. Golden’s past statements or votes. To me, those are not viable options. In essence, doing so gives his opponent half a vote. I prefer the “glass half-full” approach to the “glass half-empty” one.

I hope others join me in voting to reelect Jared Golden as our representative to the U.S. House.
