OXFORD — Police shut down a section of Route 26 late Friday night after a motorcycle slammed into the back of a police cruiser near Oxford Casino.

Police said the father of the motorcyclist showed up at the scene and was belligerent with the investigating officers. The man was shocked with a Taser and then taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital for evaluation, police said.

It was expected that the man would be charged.

The motorcycle rider, who slammed into the back of an Oxford police cruiser, reportedly suffered a leg injury in the wreck. He was also being treated later Friday night.

The names of those involved in the wreck were not immediately available. The incident was being investigated by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Both Oxford and Mechanic Falls police responded to the scene. A section of Route 26, near the Hampton Inn, was shut down to traffic as police began their investigation.
