Whenever I see one of Maine’s stone walls, I think of Bettyann Sheats, candidate for Maine State Senate.

Bettyann has constructed many such walls in her garden. These walls, so admired by Mainers, are an apt metaphor for the work she would do in Augusta.

Dry stack stone walls are constructed of rocks selected to bind together by using interlocking stones. No mortar is used, even when built on uneven ground. The trick is working with each stone exactly as it is and finding the right place for it to best work with its neighbors.

Lawmaking is similar. Bettyann applies her building skills to legislation, working with all kinds of people, across the aisle and within her party to construct laws, using coalition and consensus for the bonds that make the legislative wall stand the test of time.

We need those skills in Augusta. I will vote for Bettyann Sheats.
