In the Oct. 2 Sun Journal, a letter from Renee Cote regarding Rep. Laurel Libby prompted me to send my thoughts.
During the very early stages of the COVID pandemic in 2020, we had no protections from the virus other than to mask up and to isolate. Ms. Libby’s staunch defense of her right to choose not to wear a mask was in essence an assault on those of us who were most vulnerable. It was also an affront to the medical profession’s guiding belief to do no harm.
Ms. Libby has received out-of-state funding from ultraconservative Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society. By funding her candidacy, they hope to enlist her participation in spreading their decades-long campaign to destroy our representative democracy.
Voters in District 90 should think twice before voting for Ms. Libby.
