PARIS — A Sabattus man faces a slew of charges after fleeing police twice early Monday morning, Police Chief Michael Ward said a news release.
Daniel R. Laflamme, 54, was charged with failure to give correct name and date of birth, passing a police roadblock, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, refusing to submit to arrest, operating after suspension and violating conditions of release, Ward said.
Laflamme is being held at Oxford County Jail in Paris without bail.
Police were called to John Henry Road, a dead-end road off East Oxford Road, about 6:30 a.m. for a report of a suspicious male in a vehicle, the chief said. When officers arrived, the driver was confrontational, refused to get out of his vehicle or give his identity and drove off.
Police pulled him over on East Oxford Road near John Henry Road where he continued to be confrontational and fled again, driving off the road, through a field and onto John Henry Road where he stopped, Ward said.
“After several lawful commands and K-9 warnings,” the chief said, the driver refused to get out of the vehicle, so police removed him and placed him under arrest.
“The Paris Police Department is thankful for the vigilant citizen that initially called,” Ward said, and the assistance of state police, Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Oxford and Norway police and PACE Ambulance.
