Sanford police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing at the Family Dollar in the Midtown Mall.

Robert Wilson, 59, of Sanford, was brought to Maine Medical Center on Sunday night after being stabbed at the store, according to the department. He was in stable condition Monday after being treated for stab wounds to his back and left side.

Police said the suspect is a man with long hair who was last seen wearing blue jeans, a backward-facing hat and a multi-colored hoodie. He was last seen headed north from the mall and allegedly stole a backpack.
