OHCHS Graphic Design Winner Cindi Choi and her Instructor Virginia Valdez

PARIS — Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival was pleased to award a $300 prize to its 52nd Anniversary Poster Design Winner, Cindy Choi, a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School (OHCHS). Virginia Valdes, the Graphic Design Instructor, has been working with SLLMF for 19 years, creating a new design each year. The poster design is incorporated into a brochure to promote the Festival, a program booklet distributed at the five concerts at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, Maine, and into posters, advertisements, and social media posts assembled during the season.

Ms. Valdes said of Cindy, “She is a style maven who knows what’s on trend and how to create winning designs that appeal to a large audience. Her mastery of conception, ideation, creativity, and technical rigor make her work stand out above the crowd.”

Just this year, Ms. Choi was Oxford Hills Technical School’s Tech Student of the Year and received several medals for advertising designs at SkillsUSA. Her design entry for the New York Times ranked in the top 20 out of 4000 entries. She is a well-rounded student being VP of the Student Council Class of 2024, the SkillsUSA member/secretary and representative since 2021, and part of the OHCHS Civil Rights Team since 2023. She is attending Boston University where she will pursue degrees in chemistry and graphic design.

Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival performs 5 signature concerts each summer at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, Maine. These are always held on the last three Tuesdays in July and the first two Tuesdays in August. In addition, during the same timeframe, SLLMF performs at Community Concerts in western Maine, Healing Concerts in western and coastal Maine, and Repeat Concerts in Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut. The Community Concerts, held in public venues like churches or museums, are free of charge or by donation only to the public. It is the concerts at Deertrees which draw the artists from throughout the country each year to Maine to play in the Festival. The additional performances enhance their experience here.
