The driver of a dump truck and the company that owns the truck have been summonsed after a Friday morning crash in Oxford County involving a school bus with students on board.

The dump truck was traveling south on Route 177 near the Denmark Town Hall when it left the roadway and crashed into trees and a utility poll. The utility poll then struck a school bus belonging to MSAD 72 in Fryeburg, smashing the bus windshield and side door and damaging the roof, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

Deputies and emergency crews responded to the scene at around 6:40 a.m. Friday, according to the release. They were able to remove all seven children from the bus, and there were no injuries. The driver, 69-year-old John Partridge, of Brownfield, was also uninjured.

The driver of the dump truck, Dennis Michaud, 52, of Casco, allegedly left the scene and continued driving southbound after the crash. He was not injured, the sheriff’s department said.

Michaud was summonsed for leaving the scene of a crash. R. Rolfe Corporation, the Bridgton landscaping company that owns the dump truck, was summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit assisted in the response. The crash remains under investigation.
