Andree Kehn/Sun JournalAshley Goodwin speaks Sunday at the 21st annual Walk to Remember at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Goodwin is sharing details of having lost her infant daughter, Hailey; the pain of grief; and the support she received from family members, friends and others in the community. Through her Hugs From Hailey community, Goodwin’s family seeks to spread kindness, keep Hailey’s memory alive and heal through connections and acts of love. Goodwin’s son, Colton, 7, stands with her, and her daughter, Madelyn, 12, stands behind her, waiting to speak. Madelyn described the enduring sadness, the sense of incompleteness and the desire for understanding, while expressing frustration that others cannot fully comprehend the deep, permanent impact of losing her sister at a young age.
