Q&A

1) Define what “success” would look like if you are elected to serve your district.

I want to assist all Mainers, especially our seniors, with sustainable tax relief. I want to legislate common-sense solutions to our problems with crime: e.g. drugs, mental health and issues leading us away from a criminal justice society toward a social justice society. We’ve weakened our criminal code and our bail code to the point there is lessened respect and compliance. Mainers of all ages should be able to feel and be safe.

2) Characterize your view on public access to governmental business.

The failure to create sustainable property tax relief for seniors. Through majority budget issues they withdrew the funds designated to reimburse municipalities for the Property Tax Stabilization Program and put those funds, coincidentally, into public housing in Portland and Lewiston, they promised something better in return but instead continued to fiddle with taxes to the point seniors were worse off than before the inception of the homestead tax freeze. In each instance my opponent voted against seniors. Now it looks like this tax and spend is leaving us with a $949.2 million “structural gap” for the next biennium.
