WINTHROP — Monmouth overcame a halftime deficit with a pair of second-half goals to beat Hall-Dale 2-1 in the Mountain Valley Conference boys soccer championship game at Charlie’s Field.

The Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the first half on a nicely placed shot Jaxon Olson.

In the second half, Mustangs freshman Zane Foyt was fouled inside the goal box, earning a penalty kick that his holder brother, Rory Foyt, capitalized on to even the game at 1-1.

Nine minutes later, sophomore Jake Harmon scored an unassisted goal to give the Mustangs the lead.

Monmouth goalie Lewis Lamoreau stopped five shots, while Hall-Dale’s Landon Gilbert stopped eight.
