I received my draft notice on my 23rd birthday. Unlike Donald Trump I was not a draft dodger.

When Donald Trump was president, he called Republican Sen. John McCain a loser because he was captured in North Vietnam. Sen. McCain was respected in the Senate.

There’s a memorial to honor the American soldiers who were killed and buried during the first world war in France. Trump was there in 2018 but didn’t attend the memorial. Instead, he has called the dead “suckers and losers.”

I arrived in Vietnam on Feb. 2, 1968, during the Tet Offensive. I was selected for guard duty that night. Once it got dark a dramatic amount of gunfire was directed toward our defensive positions. Shortly, there was a loud explosion behind us, and the ones firing at us stopped shooting and disappeared.

I will vote for Harris, not Trump. He has no respect for veterans injured or killed in combat.
