My background as an accountant leads me to be conservative on fiscal issues, therefore I am extremely concerned that Maine ranks No. 1 in highest property tax and No. 4 in overall tax burden in our country.
This supports an ever-ballooning state government and two-year budget of $11 billion. Where does this end?
Maine also ranks No. 43 in education, No. 40 in infrastructure and has the ninth worse economy in the United States.
The combination of these high taxes and poor results is dangerous to all of us Mainers and our way of life; we need representation in Augusta to lower taxes and spending now.
Rep. Laurel Libby introduced a bill to repeal the state income tax and voted against the new 1% payroll tax. She is on the right side of these issues and I am voting for her.
