WEST PARIS — First Universalist Church of West Paris’ November worship services are set for 9 a.m. Sundays at 208 Main St.
Music is performed by guitarist Davy Sturtevant, and refreshments follow the services. All are welcome.
The following programs are scheduled:
Nov. 3, “See Life Steady and See it Whole” will be led by guest speaker Bob Neal, a frequent speaker at the church. The title of his topic harkens to his roots in journalism, referring to the Greek tragedian Sophocles’ belief in fate and the will of the gods (he also believed in the importance of selflessness and morality), according to a news release from the church.
Nov. 10 continues the church’s poetry series with guest Sonja Johanson. Her topic is “Considering the Penultimate Month.” Using poetry as a vehicle to examine the ecological changes of late autumn, the talk considers how plants, animals and people respond to the last moments before winter, and what lessons can be taken on observances, appreciation and deceleration.
Nov. 17, “A Seditious Story,” will be led by the Rev. Scott Campbell. His sermon will reexamine the tale of the widow’s mite.
Nov. 24, “Being Grateful,” will be led by the church’s worship service committee.
