Karen Hudson grooms Poppy’s toenails Thursday at her business, Sydoodles, a pet grooming service inside the new Kommunity Kritters at 19 Bartlett St. in Lewiston. Now in its fourth location, Kommunity Kritters was founded by Amy Sanchez and Larissa Ryerson and offers low-cost and no-cost support to help people stay with their pets, citing significant mental health benefits. Sanchez, who was once homeless with a pet, said the love and acceptance of her dog made all the difference in lifting herself into a better situation. Hudson offers free nail clipping twice a month, and is establishing a sliding scale for the rest of her services. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
