100 Years Ago: 1924

When Capt. Donald B. MacMillan, world famous explorer of Arctic wastes, lectures in Lewiston City Hall Wednesday evening under the auspices of the A. D. P. class of boys, Court street Free Baptist church, he will face a large audience.

The hall seats between 1200-1500 and although the exchange of certificates for reserved seats Monday was like a busy afternoon at Symphony hall the committee reports that there are still 300 good seats left.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Nine pet rabbits were apparently killed by a raccoon during the night in Auburn. David Goodwill of 12 Sunset Court notified authorities this morning that he had just found the rabbits dead in their pen and he asked police to determine the cause of death.

Dog Officer Louis Pinette was dispatched and upon checking over the area, theorized a raccoon was the killer.

25 Years Ago: 1999

“Gotta Move Ballroom Workout” will be the topic of a three-part Central Maine Medical Center Healthy Start program set for November.

Larry Miller, a competitive dancer and dance coach, will lead a series of classes that provide participants with a self-paced, non-intimidating workout. Music from the big bands and ballroom dance eras, and the Latin American invasion set the mood for this low impact aerobics, jazz and swing workout.
