LIVERMORE FALLS — Voters on Tuesday approved appropriating $75,000 for a new police cruiser, changing retirement plans for eligible Police Department employees and enacting the property maintenance ordinance.
Town Clerk Doris Austin shared the tallies shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The vote for the cruiser was 768-568.
Voters Henry Pile said, “If they need a new vehicle, we should get them a new vehicle.”
The vote for a change in the retirement plan for eligible Police Department employees was 714-575.
On Sept. 3 selectmen approved the change, which would help recruit and retain officers, according to Police Chief Abe Haroon. It was estimated the new plan would cost about $10,000 more per year.
Enacting the property maintenance ordinance passed, 607-583.
Allen said 1,438 voters cast ballots. The total number of registered voters rose by 23 Tuesday, from 2,220 to 2,243, Austin said.
